KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 (Xinhua) -- The wreckage of the helicopter missing last Friday in Malaysia was found on Tuesday and all six people aboard were killed, Malaysia's national news agency Bernama said.
Local search and rescue teams discovered the wreckage of the ill-fated helicopter in Genting Highlands. All the bodies had been retrieved from the wreckage and sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for postmortem.
The wreckage of the United States-made Sikorsky S61 transport helicopter was found five days after it went missing at 9:35 p.m. on Friday on its way to the city of Kuantan in the Pahang State.
The victims all were from the country's air forces, including a female co-pilot, Bernama reported.
The authorities concerned has mobilized more than 1,000 people to scour the area for the missing copter over the past days, but the rescue and search mission was hampered by the dense forest and thick fog.
The victims were believed to die on the spot after the helicopter crashed, Bernama said.
