AMMAN, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called here Monday on Israel to reach a deal which addresses key issues before a U.S.-sponsored international conference on Middle East.

Abbas, who arrived in Amman on Sunday after his several-hour visit to Egypt, made the call to reporters after his closed-door talks with Jordan's King Abdullah in Amman.

"We are negotiating with the Israelis and we should carry to the international meeting an agreement which is comprehensive and addresses all final status issues including Jerusalem, refugees, borders, settlements, security and water," Abbas told the reporters.

According to a Jordanian palace statement, King Abdullah and President Abbas, in their meeting, reiterated keenness to continue coordination regarding the U.S.-proposed Mideast peace conference due to be held in November.

"The two leaders stressed importance for the meeting to discuss the key issues and to come up with practical and tangible results that lead to a just settlement for the Palestinian issue and mark a new era of coexistence between Palestinians and Israelis according to the two-state solution," said the statement.

Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert are to hold talks in Jerusalem on Wednesday, trying to draft the joint vision of a peace deal, said officials from both sides.
