Musharraf to address the nation
ISLAMABAD, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- President Pervez Musharraf will address the nation on Saturday, the official Associated Press of Pakistan reported Friday.
The address will be telecast live by the state and private television networks, said the report.
Attorney General Malik Mohammad Qayyum said Thursday that the state of emergency would be lifted on Saturday and five presidential orders would be issued the same day.
The 1973 constitution would be restored after the promulgation of the orders, and the chief justices of the Supreme Court, the Federal Shariat Court and all the four provincial high courts would take oath under the 1973 constitution, said Qayyum.
Musharraf on Nov. 3 proclaimed a state of emergency in the country and promulgated a provisional constitutional order (PCO), suspending the Constitution.
Then-Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and some other judges of the Supreme Court were sacked under the PCO.
