Bulgaria pipeline explosion suspends gas supply to Greece
SOFIA, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- The natural gas supply to Greece was suspended on Monday after a powerful explosion disrupted the gas pipeline running across southwestern Bulgaria, the state-run BTA news agency reported.
The explosion occurred at 7:20 a.m. local time (0420 GMT) in Dolono Bulgarchevo Village near Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria, with no casualties reported so far, the agency said.
The gas flow was immediately shut down, causing a suspension of the supply to the neighbouring country of Greece, the report said, adding that the supply will not resume until the pipeline is repaired.
Local fire brigades, police and medical staff arrived at the explosion site and a preliminary investigation has shown no evidence of a terrorist attack.
