Ding Holds "Charismatic White" to a Draw
Chinese snooker legend Ding Junhui produced super performance on Thursday to tie with British sensation Jimmy White 3-3 in the opening match of the 2007 Premier League Snooker.
The on-par White dominated the first frame and cruised to a 1-0 lead with an 83-point break. But Ding, who has been striving to escape from a low wave, hit back with a 138 break in the second frame to level the score.
The "Whirlwind" White, who has pocketed 22 titles since 1981, succeeded in holding back Ding's effort to continue the surge. The veteran cut Ding's lead and reversed it to a 70-43 win in the third.
Ding showed his improvement of calmness in the last frame when he lagged behind 3-2 on aggregate. The boy made a 103-point break before drifting the game to a draw.
The youngster will meet the Rocket, Ronnie O'Sullivan, in next match on September 27.
