Liz Claiborne to design gadget fashion for Best Buy
CHICAGO - Apparel maker Liz Claiborne Inc. (LIZ.N) said on Wednesday that it has joined electronics retailer Best Buy Co. Inc. (BBY.N) in a deal to design and sell a collection of electronics accessories for women.
The Liz Claiborne Accessories line will be sold in about 250 U.S. Best Buy stores beginning in October. It will feature laptop bags and protective sleeves, business totes and cases for cell phones, music players and cameras. Prices will range from about $25 to $200 depending on the item.
"We know many of our customers want technology to be more than a simple necessity, they want their devices to reflect their sense of style," said Liz Haesler, vice president at Best Buy, in a statement.
Liz Claiborne has set its sights on a younger, fashion-conscious set of consumers with such labels as Lucky Brand Jeans, Juicy Couture and Mexx. To do so, the company is selling off more than a dozen other brands in its portfolio.
