5 foreign soldiers killed in Afghanistan
KABUL, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- Three NATO soldiers were killed in operations in Afghanistan, while two coalition soldiers were killed in a road accident, the military said Friday.
Three soldiers of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) were killed and two others injured while on operations in southern Afghanistan on Thursday, an ISAF statement said.
Meanwhile, a vehicle rollover killed two soldiers of the U.S.-led coalition forces and injured two more in Kajiki district of the western Herat province at around 8 a.m. local time (0330 GMT) on Friday, the statement said.
The brief statement did not tell the soldiers' nationalities.
About 37,000 ISAF soldiers and 13,000 coalition soldiers are being deployed in Afghanistan to fight militants and maintain the security.
Due to rising Taliban violence, about 140 foreign soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan this year.
