All anti-coup leaders released on bail from Bangkok prison
BANGKOK, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's Criminal Court agreed to release the remaining six detained anti-coup demonstration leaders on bail Monday afternoon on the condition that they will not lead any rally or cause trouble that jeopardize national security.
The six detainees are the key leaders of the Democratic Alliance Against Dictatorship (DAAD), an anti-coup group led by some former key members of the now disbanded Thai Rak Thai party (TRT).
The six are among the nine DAAD leaders detained on July 26 on charges of instigating unrest for their alleged connection with clashes between demonstrators and security forces in front of Privy Council president Prem Tinsulanonda's residence on July 22.
The DAAD accused Prem, a veteran general and leading statesman, of having orchestrating the Sept. 19 coup last year to oust then prime minister and TRT leader Thaksin Shinawatra.
One of the nine leaders, National Human Rights commissioner Jaran Ditha-apichai was released on bail soon after the detainment.
On last Thursday, the Criminal Court freed another two, Weng Tojirakarn and Manit Jitchanklab on bail after each submitted 200,000 baht (6061 U.S. dollars) as guarantee.
